Keep the Kleenex Handy
Review by Kim Cantrell
In one of her best works ever -If You Really Loved Me - Ann Rule tells the gut-wrenching, tear-jerking tale of a young girl, Cinnamon Brown, whose only mistake in life was the father to which she born; unfortunately, something none of us can control.
David Brown, Cinnamon’s father, was the classic textbook definition of a narcissist; yet he was a coward. His self-centered wishes and desires led him to manipulate his young daughter into killing her stepmother, Linda Brown.
Following the killing, a young, scared Cinnamon was found curled up in a doghouse attempting to deal with what she had done for her father…in the name of showing him she really did love him.
After being tried and convicted, this cold-hearted father visited his daughter but only to remind her with each visit to stick to her story; to never let them know of his involvement.
But, fortunately, Cinnamon matured and, with the help and encouragement of law enforcement officials who realized who was the “real murderer,” she was able to free herself of the confinements of prison and her fathers emotional stronghold.
This is an extremely interesting, yet emotionally devestating book. A must read for true crime fans!
