It’s Unclear Whether I Recommend It
Review by Kim Cantrell
When Robert Spangler decided he was going to divorce his first wife and mother of his son and daughter, Nancy Stahlman, he discovered that his mistress didn’t want the headache of dealing with teens.
His solution: on December 30, 1978, Bob, as he was called, killed his wife and sons – arranging it so that it appeared Nancy had killed the children and then herself.
Enter mistress, turned second Mrs. Spangler. Within a few years, she too would die under mysterious circumstances.
In 1994, his third wife died following an “accidental” fall during a hike with Bob at the Grand Canyon.
Then there is the issue of Bob’s adoptive father’s questionable death that immediately followed a visit from Bob.
As a general rule, I found Robert Scott to be an excellent true crime writer.
But -
With Married to Murder, I was a little disappointed.
While the story was definitely one that should have been written, often the reader is subjected to phrases such as “It is unclear…” and “It is unknown…”
Unfortunately, these phrases seem to proceed sentences that would have contained facts very important to the case…and, of course, the reader.
Do I recommend it? Well, the “meat” of the story is a good one. If you’re willing to buy a book for “parts,” then yes; otherwise, pick it up at the library.
Want to read it? Here’s where to get it:
