13 Crimes Classified as Cold Cases

This week’s Thursday 13 is a list of crimes that have remained unsolved and are now classified as cold cases.

  1. Sharon  Marshall:  She was known by the aliases “Sharon Marshall”, “Suzanne Davis”, and “Tonya Hughes”. She was probably born between 1967 and 1970, and it is believed she was abducted by Franklin Delano Floyd between June 1973 and August 1975. Her background is unknown, as is her age and true identity.  [Read more....]

  2. Cam Lyman:  Born Camilla in Westwood, Massachusetts, this transgender man and multi-millionaire breeder of champion spaniels  disappeared in 1987.  In December 1997 his body was found in a septic tank on his estate in Hopkinton, Rhode Island by owners that had recently purchased the house.  [Read more....]

  3. The Missing Trio (Julie Ann Moseley, Rachel Trlica, Lisa Renee Wilson):   On the morning of Dec. 23, 1974, three girls from three different families set out on a shopping trip to the then-rather glitzy Seminary South Shopping Center in south Fort Worth. They were supposed to be home by 4 p.m. – but they never returned.  [Read more....]

  4. The Babysitter Murders:  A series of five murders and one disappearance that occured in Oakland County, Michigan in the late 1970s.  Dubbed “the babysitter murders” because all of the victims were children.  [Read more....]

  5. Julie Fuller:  In 1983, this 11-year-old victim had just relocated from England to Texas with her family when she disappeared while taking out the trash at the hotel in which her family was staying.  She was found naked, raped and strangled by the Trinity River in Fort Worth. [Read more....]

  6. Billy Smolinski:  In the hours after he placed a 2:59 p.m. order for a Whopper, cheeseburger, medium fries and Coke on August 24, 2004, this 31-year-old man vanished into thin air.  A $60,000 reward is being offered in this case.  [Read more....]

  7. Betsy Aardsma:  On the afternoon of November 28, 1969, 22-year-old Betsy Aardsma was stabbed to death while conducting research in the Pattee Library at Pennsylvania State University in State College, Pennsylvania.  [Read more....]

  8. Tara Calico:  On September 20, 1988 , this college sophmore left her home at about 9:30 in the morning to go on her customary bike ride.  No one witnessed her presumed abduction, although several witnesses did observe a 1953 or 1954 Ford pickup following her, but it is not known if this vehicle was connected to her disappearance. [Read more....]

  9. Carvel and Sarah Faulkner:  A couple in their late 50s were murdered in the bedroom of their home located in the 7000 block of Montgomery Road, Pikeville, Maryland in April 1979.  An employee of their trash hauling business discovered the bodies.  [Read more....]

The Keddie Cabin Murders:  On April 11, 1981, Shiela Sharp returned home from spending the night with a friend to find her mother,  16-year-old brother, and her brother’s 17-year-old friend brutually murdered in the family home.  Her little sister Tina was missing.  Her younger brothers and a friend were untouched.  [Read more....]

  11. Jennifer and Adrianna Wix:  Following a heated arguement with her boyfriend, 22-year-old Jennifer called her mother Kathy and expressed concerns about her living conditions.  She was never seen or heard from again.  [Read more....]

  12. The Sodder Family Fire:  On Christmas Eve 1945, George and Jennie Sodder gathered with 9 of their 10 children to begin Christmas celebrations.  In the early Christmas morning hours, a fire destroyed the Sodder home and no traces were found of five of the couples’ children.  [Read more....]

  13. Andy Atkinson and Cheryl Henry:  In 1990, the early 20s couple were reported missing when they failed to return home following a date.  They were found brutually murdered in an undeveloped area of the 1300 block of Enclave Parkway in Houston. [Read more....]
