He Got The Smirk Wiped Off His Face
Review by Kim Cantrell

Robert Fioretti was a New York City police officer.

He was also a wife beater, a child abuser, and a cheat.

Life in the Foiretti household at 440 King Avenue in City Island – part of the Bronx burough – was a living hell.

When Rita decided it was time to get her and Robert’s two young sons out of their living nightmare, she withdrew $17,000 from their joint account.

The money was accounted for.  Rita was not.

Rita’s friends, co-workers, and neighbors feared the worst.  Rita would have never left behind her two young sons, they told police.

The next years would be a combined effort of state and federal law enforcement to bring Fioretti to justice.  Many detectives would find their emotions deeply invested in making Fioretti pay for his sins.

Readers will be amazed by and in admiration of two very young girls and an elementary school principal that were the first in a series of actions that exposed Fioretti as a sexual sadistic murderer.

Till Murder Do Us Part by Ernest Volkman and James Cummings is detailed, extremely vivid account of the crimes of Robert Fioretti.

At times the information got a bit repetitive and I found the backgrounds on the officers involved to be a bit too detailed, but it all came together nicely for a true crime book that will enrage and sicken readers simultaneously.

Updates on Robert Fioretti:  Released from the New York Department of Corrections in 2007, Fioretti is currently housed in a maximum-security mental hospital.  His stepdaughters, Christina and Jennifer Brooks, along with their half-sister Melissa Fioretti, plan to counter any efforts from Fioretti’s attorney to get his client released.  [Source:  NYDailyNews.com]
