Silence Is Not Always Golden
Review by Kim Cantrell

The Stalking of Kristin:  A Father Investigates the Murder of His Daughter is investigative journalist George Lardner Jr.’s award winning exposé about the murder of his 21-year-old daughter.

Kristin Lardner was an aspiring art student, living in upscale Brookline neighborhood of Boston, when her life was brutally taken by ex-boyfriend Michael Cartier.

George Lardner is an EXCELLENT writer and The Stalking of Kristin is an excellent study in how domestic violence affects persons of all backgrounds; and no one should ever believe that it cannot happen to them or their loved one, especially if that someone remains silent about the abuse.

In my own personal opinion, it is a book that every young woman entering adulthood should be required to read in an effort to help them fully understand the dangers of domestic violence and why is ALWAYS important to seek help.

It’s a touching, heart-wrenching memoir and a great deal of information about Kristin’s life and death are included; however, readers looking for strictly true crime are not likely to enjoy this book.

If I were to give this a rating based on a five star system, it would be as follows:

MEMOIR:  5 stars

TRUE CRIME:  2.5 stars
