435 Page Thrill Ride!
Review by Kim Cantrell
I’ve long been a fan of John Sandford, having followed his character bad boy cop Lucas Davenport from the beginning.
And Sandford has, once again, delivered a gripping suspense thriller; a real up-all-nighter!
Wicked Preyis set when the Twin Cities is hosting the Republican convention, announcing the nomination of John McCain as the GOP Presidential candidate.
To a gang of thieves looking for only the high dollar scores, this is the perfect time to get to work.
Their targets: the moneymen, a group of people who discreetly pass out cash to buy the votes. Perfect targets because what they’re doing is illegal.
But Lucas Davenport has a heads up and he’s hot on their trail. And when they turn from thieves to cop killers, Davenport isn’t going to just let them walk away.
There’s also a second story surrounding Davenport’s soon-to-be adopted daughter, Letty; a fourteen-year-old television reporter intern who befriends a 16-year-old prostitute whose pimp has a personal vendetta against Davenport.
And he plans to use Letty to get his revenge.
John Sandford has an uncanny knack for taking multiple plots and nicely tying them together into one explosive novel.
If you don’t read any other fiction at all this year, be sure to read Wicked Prey!
