He Just Keeps Getting Better!
Review by Kim Cantrell
On Tuesday, June 21st, author Paul Doiron’s second book hits bookstores everywhere. And let me put it to you this way: IT ROCKS!
Readers once again follow Mike Bowditch, a Maine Game Warden who brings cowboy-style adventures to an otherwise mundane job.
In Trespasser, Mike is still trying to live down (or with, is more like it) the local yokels’ opinions about his father when he lands bass ackwards (as we Southern Belles say) in the middle of a murder investigation.
And not just any murder investigation, but one that brings into question the guilt of a man convicted of an identical murder many years before.
Mike faces a multitude of challenges from explaining to a Trooper (who obviously hates his guts) why he broke into a home that contains a brutally murdered body to a manic chase through the snowy backwoods of Maine on an ATV four-wheeler. Yet, those things can’t even begin to compare with that of which is not spoken; well, at least between Mike and his girlfriend, Sarah.
I gotta tell ya, Trespasser is a gripper from beginning to end. Once I started, I couldn’t stop. I liked The Poacher’s Son, but I loved Trespasser!
The Mike Bowditch character is so vivid I suspect that he may Paul Doiron’s alter ego. The skewed sense of humor and uncanny ability to find trouble are just too real. And you know what they say, truth is stranger than fiction. Know what I mean?
I better stop here before I tell too much and wind up with nasty emails about spoilers. (That is not at all pleasant, I’ll tell ya.)
My final words: I thoroughly enjoyed Trespasser, and I know you will too. You’ll most definitely want to put it on your fiction reading list!
